Why experience and expertise is more important than being a “Specialist Surgeon”. We often explain that reputations, being a specialist (or “board certified” in the US) is not relevant.
Asking the % question regarding thinning the palate, removing saccules and tonsils is most helpful. However even when surgeons say they do thinning, saccules and tonsils, there is a huge variability in how well they may be done. Hence the higher the % their answer is to each of these three aspects, not only the higher the chance they will be correctly assessed and done, but the higher the chance they’ll be done well. Victoria’s case here is typical of the revision surgeries our own Dr Karin Davids often performs.
Post initial surgery from the specialist, Victoria could still only manage a 100 metre walk before needing the pram. Post revision she now walks/runs 3 km’s with hardly any noise.
