Melbourne Bulldog Clinic (otherwise known as MBC) was established within Southern Animal Health to provide dedicated veterinary care for brachycephalic breeds. Our team has developed extensive experience in the diagnosis, medical management and surgical treatment of the unique health conditions affecting Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers and other flat-faced breeds.
Since Southern Animal Health opened in 2009, our philosophy has remained the same: “Less Is Healthier”. We believe in providing practical, evidence-based advice that focuses on achieving the best long-term outcomes for your pet, rather than recommending unnecessary treatments or products. We genuinely care for every patient as though they were our own.
Over the years, our team recognised that brachycephalic breeds face a number of complex and often misunderstood health challenges. This inspired us to establish Melbourne Bulldog Clinic as a dedicated resource where owners could access experienced veterinary advice, advanced surgical options and ongoing support tailored specifically to these breeds.

While we are a general veterinary practice, our veterinarians have a special interest in brachycephalic medicine and surgery and manage a high volume of brachycephalic cases each year. This experience has enabled us to develop practical protocols and treatment pathways tailored specifically to the unique needs of brachycephalic dogs.
Our services include:
- BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) assessments
- Advanced airway surgery
- Soft palate, stenotic nares and laryngeal surgery
- Gastrointestinal and upper airway investigations
- General medicine and surgery for brachycephalic breeds
- Second opinions for complex brachycephalic cases
- Ongoing health and preventative care
Education is also an important part of what we do. We believe that informed owners make better decisions for their pets, which is why we spend time explaining not only the treatment options available, but also the long-term management of brachycephalic health conditions.
As part of Southern Animal Health, Melbourne Bulldog Clinic combines the comprehensive services of a modern general practice with a genuine passion for brachycephalic health. Whether your pet requires routine care, advanced airway surgery or a second opinion, our experienced team is committed to providing compassionate, practical and affordable veterinary care.
We look forward to welcoming you and your pet to Melbourne Bulldog Clinic.
